Training Days
On occasion and without much pre-planning, we hold training days for upcoming puppies and for friends we have come to enjoy over the years. Everyone takes turns throwing for one another, and usually we have a potluck dinner after. No one spends the night! But it is a grand time! Here are some shots from last November and last February.
We encourage the kids to work a dog, learn about birds, hunting, safety and responsible dog ownership.
Peggy Zionts gives an impromptu grooming seminar for puppies and trimming nails is no big deal when she does it, treats, happy voices, and lots of eye contact.
There is no reason for a puppy to struggle over foot care!
Jack Ippel and Ranger (Gemini's In Hot Pursuit) await a bird, while Kim holds the last bird Ranger retrieved out of his sight.
Clooney
(Zia Sensory Overload, Watson) models the latest in 'after the day's work' accoutrements.
He is the easiest dog to be silly with, as he loves to be the center of attention!

WC/WCX EVENT
Kim was secretary and organizer for the GRCA end of the FlatCoat Retriever Fancier WC/WCX held at Winterville, GA on November 16, 2008.
What a great event! Everyone had a great time, the tension one feels in some venues was totally absent here, and the gallery shouted cheers when a dog did his job.
It was obvious that these dogs were well ready to earn this title, and though the wind was definitely a factor, those that fought it earned every cheer they were given.

The AGRC WC/X day wasn't completed until judge Michelle Love had hidden all the Easter
cookies for the dogs and handlers to track down- it is in this way that events are born...
presenting the First Annual Easter Cookie Hunt for Dogs and Handlers - after about the second
cookie dogs got the hang of searching the field for carob cookies!
Cookies were courtesy of Michelle, who "borrowed" Shine the yellow Lab so that she could enjoy
the Easter celebration- though popular consensus was that Shine enjoyed it far more than Michelle did!

Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club held their WC/WCX test as well as a Certificate of Conformation Assessment event at Kim's place on March 14, 2010. It was a lovely day, there was great food prepared by 'chef 'Sally Bunker May, and Kim's grounds were the site on which many new titles were earned in both conformation and field. We were glad to have the opportunity to host for SGRC.
