Bird Dogs
Our training facility now includes bird dogs. After 10 years of training our own bird dogs for our own pleasure and professional guide service we decided to expand and offer this program.
We train our bird dogs daily with lots of patience, plenty of live birds and actual field conditions.
We offer an exceptional personalized program to produce fine gun dogs owners can be proud of.
In our first year of training bird dogs for clients, we have been successful in trialling and titling and are glad to be able
to offer a bird dog program as a part of our permanent menu of training options.
Obedience Training
We title dogs in AKC Obedience in conjunction with their retriever training if our client wishes. All levels of obedience are available.
We also offer a separate "obedience only" program at a different rate than our regular retriever training, and we are happy to 'add on' a higher level obedience title after the hunt titles are earned. Our commitment is to provide you a well trained dog and to enhance your pedigree with titles earned by your dog and to that end, we are able to train and title in AKC obedience and rally along with AKC hunt testing, GRCA WC/WCX programs, and UKC hunting retriever tests.
Tracking
Turtlecreek Sporting Dogs offers AKC tracking training/titling to one dog every four months, though we also will offer tracking as an 'add-on' to our hunt test training program as well. We start with short, straight tracks and train with a group so we can simulate actual tracking tests at the end of what we plan to be a four month program. It is important to realize that a tracking title is a recognition of a partnership between handler and dog, and that the subtleties in each dog's language are interpreted by the trainer as much as the trainer teaches the dog what to do. We strive to achieve an enhanced relationship with your dog, and reading his language is an ability we are very proud of.
Puppy Kindergarten
For Puppies Under Six Months.
Give your puppy the right start in our puppy kindergarten program.
Whether your puppy is a future field dog or you would like a well rounded good citizen - we make the learning fun for your little one.
We take no more than two puppies a month in this program. Puppies live in the home with us.
Puppies are crate trained, house broken and learn good house manners.
Every day they travel with us for training and the puppies are exposed to a variety of situations.
From the beginning they retrieve, learn obedience and swim everyday.
They grow accustomed to loud noise , other dogs and different people.
The puppies are handled on a grooming table daily.
We brush , check teeth and go over them as if they are
in the show ring.Your puppy can return home well trained
and well socialized - ready for fun or to continue on in our
obedience and hunt test program!
With a limited number of dogs, two full time trainers and assistants we can carefully
individualize programs for each dog. We have a very high rate of success with
"Show" type retrievers as well as field-bred retrievers.
We offer both electronic collar training program and NON-collar use in our training programs.
We tailor our training program to each individual dog and their owner.
Our daily training always includes obedience, casting drills, blind work, land marks, and water marks.
Birds are used each and every day. Our training area spans over 4000 acres of property,
multiple fields and ponds that offer excellent training opportunities for the dogs.
Retrievers
Our ultimate goal in the Retriever Training program is always to
bring each dog to his or her highest level of achievement
through a carefully planned, individual program. Whether as a truly dedicated personal gun dog, an outstanding companion dog, or a successful competition dog, each dog succeeds.
Our training program produces fine personal gun dogs
and competition dogs ranging from Breed Specific Working
Certificate programs to AKC Junior, Senior
and Master Hunt Test Titles.
Qualifying dogs at Master National Level - the highest
achievement a Hunt Test Dog can obtain.
